Making New Memories

The holidays can rush by so quickly that we often don’t pay attention to our old seasonal decor that used to sparkle but has now become lackluster compared to everything else: scrunched up and wrinkled bows, glass ornaments that have faded with age, bits of broken decorations that just sit at the bottom of the box.

Give yourself a quick decluttering and sorting of your precious holiday delights with the help of this week’s Pro Tips.

Pro Tips:

This holiday season, make a mental note of the holiday decor you no longer use but keep storing year after year and then:

  1. Curate these unused decorations to create a lovely memory for your grown children from a collection of homemade ornaments for their future tree or even a photo book of decorations from their childhood, it will make a great gift that they may take with them as they move on to the next phase of their lives. It will also make their first holiday season in their own space feel like home with memories from their childhood.

  2. Once that’s opened up some space, explore ways to consolidate and store your current holiday decor to protect and preserve your most sacred ornaments. You’ll most likely have plenty of boxes come in your home throughout December, here is your chance to replace your older storage bins with newer ones. Recycle the wrapping paper to pad the bottom of the new boxes and to wrap each of the delicate items you are storing until next year.
